Leave No Survivors

With all kinds of new music pouring into this generation, it’s making me wonder who’s listening to what. There are some people with a more reserved music taste out there, saying that they’re listening to the old school, and there are more explorative people out there listening to the new things that are coming out. Music festivals are even featuring new artists that no one has ever heard of often.                The modern state of the music industry is a very open field. There are new and undiscovered artists coming out along with the old favorites. It’s thought-provoking in the way that I start to question which artists are really good and which ones have been put up in the mainstream only to be overrated.                The artists that we’re used to listening to are starting to be overshadowed by new talent. These new types of hustlers are r...

Danny Brown was always known for his friendliness. His appeal to young people. He was someone who was sought after in the rap game for his originality. He brought something to the table that was very interesting and unique. After investigation, Danny Brown can be seen to be a very different type of rapper than the other rappers of the early 2010s.                The other rappers that were coming out back then were all about the hustle. They were into repping where they were from, and talking about the heights that they were taking the game to. They wanted to bring other people with them, and listeners were hooked. Everyone was trying to be the next craze.                By the time Danny Brown’s reign was over, he had committed artistic suicide and let...

I remember when the first Purple rappers came out on the scene in the mid-2010s. The game was over. All the fun people were having doing the trap house style all of a sudden changed up. I’m sure people weren’t happy about it. It took a long time for the world to come back together after that.                People have been all over the place since then, but it feels like everything has been staying in the same place. You’ll catch word of some girl listening to Purple rappers every now and then, to mixed reviews. I heard that it was a big deal, too. Rappers aren’t supposed to be treated like dirt. They got people all mixed up for what the game should be.                That isn’t to say that there isn’t worth in new school rap. They take things in a new direction that probably has a purpose...
